Our History

Mary and Mihron started this business over 100 years ago. Mihron would be thrilled to see we’ve continued in the loose rug cleaning and repairing segment of the industry, and be amazed by how far our in-home carpet cleaning business has advanced. Dedication to customer service is what has grown our business into what it is today. We continue to take pride that customer service is the most important aspect of our business. In addition, our dedicated employees are the foundation of our business and we have been gifted with many long-time employees who hold our values of true Customer Service.

1906  –  Koshgarian Rug Cleaners was established by Hagop H. Koshgarian and his brother Mihron H. Koshgarian. Our first building was located in a two story home at 11 West Hillgrove Ave., LaGrange, Illinois. The company cleaned and repaired oriental and domestic carpets.

1918 – The company was purchased by Mihron and his wife Mary Koshgarian from Hagop’s Estate.

1928 – The company moved into a new office/residential building at 15 W. Hillgrove Ave., in LaGrange. Mihron built a carpet washing plant, applying the latest washing technology to safely clean the many fine carpets and rugs of the growing western suburban population.

1947 – Mary Koshgarian, responding to customer requests, expanded the business to carpet sales and rug repairs. Herbert H. Koshgarian, Mihron and Mary’s son and 2nd generation, worked side-by-side with his parents expanding the business.

1957-1958 – Herbert built the building with a new state-of-the-art Moore’s Rug Cleaning Plant and business office at 248 East Ogden, Hinsdale, Illinois. The equipment is designed for any type of rugs that may need cleaning and is still in operation today. It has been modified and redesigned, but able to clean any type of manufacturer rug.

1965 – Because of the needed service that customers desired, Herbert began in-home wall-to-wall and upholstery cleaning. The most efficient shampoo methods of those times were used with “Hild” being the best quality equipment.

1971 – Hot water extraction became the state-of-the-art equipment and Herbert purchased only the best. Hydra-Master Steam Extraction equipment was on all of Koshgarian’s trucks. Rug manufacturers recommend hot water extraction and Koshgarian’s were the first to have the top of the line equipment available for our customers’ service.

1981 – Koshgarian Rug Cleaners expands to Naperville. The new western suburb office is headed by Terry Koshgarian, daughter of Herbert Koshgarian.

1993 – Chuck Koshgarian, 3rd generation, acquires the Hinsdale plant and operation from his father, Herbert Koshgarian. The company is now known as Koshgarian Rug and Carpet Cleaners, Inc. The same year, Terry Koshgarian purchases the Naperville operation from her father.

2005 – Chuck Koshgarian acquires Naperville Koshgarian Rug Cleaners, Inc.

2007 – Combined the Naperville office with the Hinsdale office for a more efficient operation.
